Denture Marking System

New Improved Kit

The new kit has a harder wearing varnish so that the marking should last longer. It has a new bottle with a larger brush handle for easier application of the varnish, and a narrower opening to the bottle so that the evaporation of the liquid is reduced whilst the kit is in use. The cardboard box may be recycled.

This kit provides the materials for professional or auxiliary staff to identify a denture to a patient. This is particularly useful in hospitals, nursing homes and other care facilities where identification of dentures is necessary.

The composition of the coating is similar to the denture, and does not affect soft tissue, or the denture base. The fit of the denture is not affected if the kit is used as detailed in these instructions.

Note - Denture cleaning
Dentures—full or partial—should be brushed daily with a soft toothbrush or denture cleaning brush, using a commercially prepared denture powder or paste, hand soap, or baking soda. Toxic or abrasive household cleaners should never be used. Dentures should be brushed inside and outside, and rinsed with cool water. Use a commercial product cleaner. DO NOT SOAK PARTIAL DENTURES IN BLEACH! It will corrode the framework. Use a commercial product that is especially made for partial dentures to protect the metal parts. Also be sure to gently clean the clasp area that lays against the tooth for support.

HOW TO USE THE KIT

Using one of the dry abrasive pieces, abrade and clean an area about twice the size of the proposed marking on the buccal (cheek) side near the back of the denture.

In the center of the dry, dust free, cleaned area print identifying initials e.g. A B C with the enclosed black pencil. Mark both upper and lower dentures. Paint a thin layer of the coating over the initials and cleaned area.

Allow 1-2 mins to dry. Apply a second coat evenly over the first. Dentures may be returned to the mouth as soon as the final coat is dry approx. 15 minutes.

The silver pencil is included for marking dark plastic items. Vulcanite dentures will only retain the marking for a short period.

Full detailed instructions are included in each kit. The instructions above are abridged. The kit should be able to mark 50 dentures, (25 sets ). More or less dentures may be marked, depending on the size and coverage of each marking undertaken.

This kit may also be used to mark other hard plastic items, including glasses, hearing aids, shavers, tooth brushes, hairbrushes etc.

A separate kit has been designed for prosthesis marking, which works in a similar manner.
