The
DENT-X EVA® (Enhanced Visual Assessment) digital sensor is a "second
generation" radiography system. While many digital dental X-ray systems use
first generation CCD imager to capture the X-ray data, the DENT-X system,
utilizes "Active Column Sensor" MOS technology. This technology reduces the
complexity of the sensor while offering many advantages over CCD technology:
Lower Power Requirements - MOS technology requires less power for
operation, thus allowing operation from the host computer’s USB port. Bulky
docking stations requiring separate power supplies are eliminated.
More Compact - Lower power requirements means the system is more
portable. The entire EVA system is approximately the size of a large
computer mouse.
Larger Image Size and Quality Resolution - The EVA sensor provides
one of the largest images available with a resolution of 16 line pairs/mm
and an image size of 2.1 MB. Digital imaging delivers significantly
increased revenue and time saving by increasing patient throughput. It is
safer for the patient with reduced X-Ray exposure. Easy-to-use,
state-of-the-art digital imaging eliminates the inconvenience of film
processing and the 3 to 6 minute wait for a single X-Ray. Images are on
screen in approx 7 seconds, allowing earlier diagnosis, easier image
manipulation, and call back decisions can be made before the patient leaves
the surgery.
Easy to learn and use software - Proimage software is free with the
sensor. Patient record location is quick and easy. The software has all the
features you expect, including measurement for endodontic applications,
colourisation, mouse contrast control, rotation , inversion.
Medical legal protection is built in - Proimage software stores
images in its database in a format that can not be accessed by image
manipulation software eg Photoshop. All images saved by Proimage that have
been input direct fom a sensor are stored as an original image. If an image
is changed within proimage an M is stamped in the corner of the image to
denote that the image has been modified, and is then saved as a copy.
Imported images are also saved automatically with the M
EVA+ is the first and only sensor to offer rounded top corners in
all three planes, making it the most comfortable, ergonomically correct
sensor on the market. Furthermore, EVA+ has added this comfort aspect
without sacrificing image size or cutting corners like other systems. EVA+
has a full rectangular imaging area designed by limiting distance between
the edge of the active imaging area and the physical contour of the capsule.
How comfortable is EVA+? The most critical aspect is positioning
(especially for size #2) at the upper molars, where the upper corners of
sensors push against the patient’s palate causing discomfort and gagging.
Hence, comfort and ease of positioning are significantly improved by
rounding the two upper corners where the sensor may press against the
palate, as opposed to having thin wedge-like corners.
Others claim to have the same roundness, however, these competing
products achieve corner roundness by clipping the corners of the imaging
chip, and consequently of the resulting image.
EVA+ is comfortable, accurate, and complete with the maximized image area
